I enjoy animals and when I travel abroad I always try to visit a ZOO.
I really liked the ZOO in Skopje! Although it was not that big, animals seemed full of joy.
We laughed a lot at the monkeys who made funny facial expressions and played with us through the glass walls.
There were rabbits, chickens and peacocks walking around. I saw many babies like a baby lama, a baby goat and others. The family giraffes was gorgeous. We enjoyed a small show of two sea lions that were playing with each other in the water.
Some animals were quite lazy like the bear and the lion, they didn’t pay much attention to us, they were just lying and enjoying the sun.
Here I found some adorable marmosets! They were so curious, jumping around and looking at us.
In one part of the ZOO we noticed a white kangaroo and black swans living together. They came so close to us, they didn’t afraid at all. I recommend this place for kids. There was a small amusement park and here children could get on a pony (I wish I could do it also but it was more possible the pony to get on me than the opposite).
The cages were clean and some animals had plenty of space to live. People were taking care of them for sure. We saw that a lot of construction works were going on. They were building a big house for an elephant. It was great that the ZOO was being expanded and there were some improvements that were planned so that animals can live in more natural environment. There was also a big parking area where visitors could leave their car.

Curious facts: The ZOO was founded in 1926. When it was opened it covered only 4 hectares, but nowadays it is located in area of 12 hectares and has a collection of more than 300 animals.
